It’s Waldoboro Artwalk time again, and the Heywood Gallery, 921 Main Street, Waldoboro is part of the festivities from 4:00 to 7:00 pm on Friday, May 22nd for the first event of 2026 with “Celebrating Seasons,” a selection of Anne Heywood’s landscapes depicting all seasons: spring, summer, fall, and winter.
“Dare I say that we are finally done with the winter of ’26?” quips Heywood. “After the seemingly endless snow and cold, this spring is a particularly welcomed and joyful time, a true herald of the warm sunny days to come. That said, there is much beauty in all four seasons, each one different in its moods, colors, and feelings. That is what “Celebrating Seasons” showcases.”

Listed on tripadvisor.com, one visit to the Heywood Gallery explains why: the Artist’s personal welcome at the door, rooms of tastefully displayed paintings in a historic home setting (with information about the home itself also on display), soft background music, an antique carafe with refreshing water in the kitchen, and (if you time it just right) the Artist telling visitors stories about certain paintings. As you wander through the first floor you’ll notice how Heywood’s works complement the space. “Although my paintings are inspired by modern life, they look very comfortable in this 1800s home,” Heywood observes.
The Heywood Gallery is located in the historic “Governors’ Mansion” in the heart of downtown Waldoboro Village, and features the works of Anne Heywood, an award-winning American realist artist, author, and art educator. Original paintings of modern and traditional landscapes (many of which were inspired by Waldoboro and its environs) are on view along with her still life paintings and custom pet portrait samples, limited edition prints, and note cards. Commissions for custom landscapes and pet portraits are accepted.
