Heywood Gallery Hosts “Goodbye Summer!” for the last 2026 Waldoboro Artwalk

On Friday, August 28th from 4 – 7 the Heywood Gallery, 921 Main St., Waldoboro, Maine hosts “Goodbye Summer!” for the final 2026 Waldoboro Artwalk. A selection of artist Anne Heywood’s original landscapes, “Goodbye Summer!” features paintings of the all-too- soon-to-be-past summer.
In Heywood’s “Portrait of a Landscapist,” the viewer sees the back of a standing figure overlooking a simple summer scene of blue sky, clouds, trees, and water, evoking a melancholy feeling that summer is nearly over. A large orange tube afloat on still waters dominates “Symphony in Blue and Orange”, 23” x 35”, recalling the summer sound of laughter when towing its riders over the wake of a speed boat. “Six o’clock: Feet” displays a pair of crossed feet front and center in a most relaxed pose, the personification of what summer relaxation is all about.
“Summer is my favorite season, and all of the paintings in “Goodbye Summer!” remind me of summer, even the ones that have a little autumn color in them,” says Heywood. “This collection is my way of making summer last just a little longer!”
Anne Heywood is an American Realist Artist, author, and art educator. Heywood has received many awards and honors for her unique traditional and modern landscapes, still lifes, and custom pet portraits. She maintains studios in Massachusetts and Maine. Her original paintings, prints, and notecards can be seen in Maine at the Heywood Gallery at 921 Main Street, Waldoboro (across from The Waldo Theater) and in Massachusetts by appointment only at the Thompson & Lichtner Co. in Canton and at her working studio in East Bridgewater, MA.
