Staycation or Vacation: Painting Interpretations from Near and Away

“View from Louvre” | 15.5″ x 33.5″ | pastel | copyright Anne Heywood
Where do those who live in Vacationland go for vacation? Whether vacation or staycation, this collection of Heywood landscapes will bring you glimpses of far away and nearby places, all within the comfort of the Heywood Gallery, 921 Main St., Waldoboro, Maine during the Artwalk on Friday, July 24, 2026 from 4:00 to 7:00 pm.
“This is a fun collection,” says the artist, Anne Heywood. “All of these pieces are my unique interpretations of places I’ve been to live for a time or to visit. My life started in New England, then led me to Italy for 12 years, and finally back to New England with “side trips” to other parts of the country and other countries along the way.” As a result, Heywood says “You’ll see scenes from Italy, Maine, California, South Carolina, and other places. There are no “postcard” scenes in this collection, however. Instead, each painting evokes the unique “flavors” of each place.”
