Recently Collected

I want to express my gratitude to those who have stopped by to browse and say hi, to those who have sent good wishes, and to those who decided to bring a painting home with them. Here are three paintings that have recently been collected.

 

“Beleaves” | 9″ x 12″ | pastel on textured paper | private collection

“Beleaves” was commissioned as a gift for the collectors’ close friends. This scene has meaning to both the gift givers and the gift recipients. As a result, the collectors wanted the painting to have not only a sense of place but also a sense of mood. I painted “Beleaves” with the intention of having it resemble the actual scene with an almost magical feeling.

 

“Night Bridge” | 12″ x 9″ | pastel on textured surface | private collection

“Night Bridge” is full of mystery and mood, as was the scene that inspired this piece. Compositionally, everything works together to make the viewer’s eyes go straight ahead to the rise in the road — the utility pole, yellow road stripes, suggestion of street light in the distance. Shadows and lit areas become a force.

 

“Puddles” | 12″ x 9″ | pastel on gold leaf | private collection

A mysterious piece, “Puddles” was painted on a gold leaf surface with pastels, brushing away pastels in select areas to expose the gold leaf “shine”. All about subtle colors, organic shapes, water, light and dark, and mood.
