Heywood Gallery Marks Waldoboro’s 250th Anniversary Celebration

June, 2023

In celebration of the Town of Waldoboro’s 250th anniversary, the Heywood Gallery, (located in Waldoboro’s “Governor’s Mansion”) at 921 Main St. in Waldoboro will be open to the public, with over sixty of American Realist Artist Anne Heywood’s original paintings on display.

“Such a special milestone deserves to be celebrated by the town’s businesses and residents in many special ways, and paintings are my way, especially the landscapes of Waldoboro and neighboring towns,” explains Heywood. “These paintings depict the current Waldoboro, but I can only imagine what these same scenes looked like 250 years ago.”

The Heywood Gallery will be open on Saturday, June 17th from 11 am to 4:00 pm, and on Sunday, June 18th from noon to 4:00 pm, with the artist in attendance both days. “This is the first time since 2020 that the Heywood Gallery has been once again open to the public due to Covid,” adds Heywood. “It must have taken the strength and resilience of its citizens to reach this 250th anniversary, so this 2023 event marks a new beginning and a triumph for Waldoboro. The Heywood Gallery is honored to be a part of this celebration.”

In addition to landscapes, the gallery will also be showing Heywood’s still lifes, sample pet portraits, prints, and cards
