Artist Anne Heywood Receives Honor

The Marquis Who’s Who Publication Board, the world’s premier publisher of biographical profiles, has  recognized Anne Heywood, artist, educator, author, and owner of the Heywood Gallery, Waldoboro, as a 2019 recipient of the Albert Nelson Marquis Lifetime Achievement Award which celebrates her professional accomplishments and longevity as a Marquis biographee. This Award is reserved for less than 3% of world wide professionals. Selection of awardees is based on their noteworthy accomplishments, leadership qualities, credentials, visibility, and prominence in a field of work.  Past awardees have included the most accomplished individuals and innovators from every significant field of endeavor, including politics, business, medicine, science, engineering, law, education, art, religion, and entertainment.

“I am thrilled and humbled to receive this special honor,” says Heywood. “When I first began my fine art career 30 years ago I never dreamed of some day receiving this award.”

Heywood opened the Heywood Gallery, 921 Main St., Waldoboro, five years ago, joining the nearby Philippe Guillerm Gallery and Tidemark Gallery as participants in the first Waldoboro ArtWalk. “Waldoboro was a quiet bucolic midcoast Maine town, very inspiring for artists, and perfect for a new gallery and a new town-wide celebration of the arts.” The locale for the gallery Heywood chose was perfect also: an 1830’s brick structure located in the Village Center, formerly home to three prominent residents, a famous 1800s female educator and two governors, one of whom went on to become the US Senator from the state of Maine. “This historic building is certainly a wonderful setting for my work,” says Heywood, an American Realist. “I specialize in landscapes, still lifes, and pet portraits, and they all look fantastic displayed in this home.”

The Heywood Gallery is open Saturday, October 12th, for the final 2019 ArtWalk Waldoboro event, from 4 – 7 pm. All Heywood paintings displayed will be on sale. “I am offering this sale so that all my visitors can take home an original painting that evening since the gallery will only be open by chance or appointment until spring 2020. Nothing like a beautiful piece of art to brighten up the long winter months,” declares Heywood, adding, “I just love to meet and welcome visitors to this gallery!”
