Slow down and bring your reading glasses to the Heywood Gallery, 921 Main Street, Waldoboro for the July ArtWalk Waldoboro event on Saturday, July 13th from 4 – 7

pm! Anne Heywood, featured artist and owner of the Heywood Gallery, has posted interesting personal stories and comments next to special pieces of her work. “I love the way paintings tell stories,” says Heywood.  “With a silent voice, they tell you something about their subject and something about their artist. All you have to do is stop, look, and listen.”

Each of the paintings and prints Heywood has chosen for “Stories” has unique subjects, and projects a mood or feeling. “If those who know me were to line up all of the paintings I’ve done in my career, they could probably tell you what I painted when or at least what mood I was in when I painted certain pieces.” Heywood continues, “I am a visual artist, not an actress, so my life all comes pouring out in my work, whether I want it to or not.”

The Heywood Gallery is located in an 1800s historical brick building (across from the Waldo Theatre), over the years home to a famous female educator and two Maine Governors, one who went on to become a US Senator. The Heywood Gallery occupies the first floor, displaying Anne’s original paintings, limited edition prints, and note cards. A professional artist, author (Pastels Made Easy, Watson-Guptill publications, NYC, 2003), and art educator, Heywood has earned many honors and awards over the years, and is listed in Who’s Who in American Women among other publications. ArtWalk Waldoboro celebrates its fifth anniversary this July with 20 participants and is held every second Saturday June – October, from 4 – 7 pm.
