The 2017 Heywood Artist Retreat Week

Spend a week painting in beautiful midcoast Maine this summer!

Focusing on pastel painting and drawing, the Heywood Artist Retreat Week takes place at Artwork by A. Heywood, a relaxed “home-like” environment in an 1830’s New England farmhouse and climate-controlled barn gallery/studio in Waldoboro, Maine. The workshop week begins with a Welcoming Reception on Sunday evening, July 23rd, 2017, from 5–7pm, followed by five days filled with painting demonstrations and instruction, student studio and plein air painting time, excursions to local scenic areas and art-related places, and much fun camaraderie. The Heywood Artist Retreat is limited to nine participants, with plenty of individual attention offered to each person. Tentative day plan:

  • Monday: 8:00am – 6:00pmIMG_5557
  • Tuesday: 9:00 am – 6:00pm
  • Wednesday: 10:00 am – 2:00, followed by optional trip to Farnsworth Art Museum
  • Thursday: 9:00 am – 3:00 pm, followed by Lobster/Steak Bake
  • Friday: 9:00 am – 5:00 pm; Constructive Group Critique in afternoon.

Retreat fee includes a “Lobster/Steak Bake” (one guest per participant to “Bake” for an additional fee), but does not include accommodations, other meals, transportation, any activity/entry fees, or supplies. Directions and further information regarding local accommodations are sent to registered participants upon request. A Retreat Itinerary is provided via email to all registered participants approximately two weeks prior to Retreat.
