A week of pastel painting, art, and camaraderie this summer in beautiful mid-coast Maine can be yours! Based in a “home-like” environment, an 1830’s New England farmhouse and barn in Waldoboro, the Heywood Artist Retreat Week begins with a welcoming reception on Sunday evening (7/22, from 5–7), followed by five full days of art, including painting demonstrations and instruction, excursions to local scenic areas for plein air painting, sketching, photo opportunities, painting in the air conditioned Barn studio, and more. The Heywood Artist Retreat is limited to eight participants, with much individual attention offered to each person.

Retreat includes five days of art instruction, Welcoming Reception, "Lobster/Steak Bake" (one guest per participant to "Bake" for an additional fee). Retreat does not include accommodations, other meals, transportation, any activity/entry fees, or supplies. Directions and further information regarding local accommodations, suggested materials, etc., are provided upon enrollment.

Pastel Landscape Paint-a-Long
Saturday, June 23rd, 2012, 9 – 4

A fun event for new pastel painters and those who are “newly” returning to pastels. Class paints the same landscape (photo provided) with pastels by following step-by-step demonstrated instructions. Bring your own supplies; suggested materials list provided upon registration. Class size is limited to eight. Easels, chairs, small tables provided.

Warm up your painting talents this winter with one full day of pastel painting each month in a casual and supportive environment. Begin each day watching a demonstration, then enjoy painting your masterpiece (your choice of subject) with professional guidance. Each class ends with a constructive group critique.
