“When people see my subjects painted in my realistic style, the assumption is that I paint exactly what I see. Sometimes that is true, but most often it is not. I start with what I see, then translate that into my own version of reality. For me, the most important aspect of art is putting myself, including emotions and feelings, into my paintings.”
