“I strive
to entice the viewer into my world,
beyond what is
seen and known, to what is felt.”
Artist Anne Heywood involves viewers in her works by
depicting both modern and traditional subjects in realistic
yet simple
terms, thereby provoking thought or creating a sense
of mood. Her paintings and drawings are noted for their
unique
compositions and subtle color transitions, as well as
their beauty – a reflection of her life spent
in New England and Italy.
Heywood is a recipient of the International
Association of Pastel Societies’ prestigious Masters
Circle Award,
along with the Pastel
Society of America's Holbein
Award, and the Salmagundi Club's George Inness, Jr.
Memorial Award. Her paintings, drawings, and writings have
been published in international books and magazines such
as “Australian Artist”, The Best of Pastel,
and “American Artist Magazine”. She is author
and illustrator of Pastels
Made Easy (Watson-Guptill
Publications, 2003).
A signature and founding member of the Pastel
Painters Society of Cape Cod, Heywood is also a signature member
of the Pastel
Society of America and the Connecticut
Pastel Society, and an artist member of the Copley
Society,
the
Salmagundi Club, and the National
Association of Women Artists. Her educational background includes a B. A.
summa cum laude in Art. She is listed in Who’s Who in America
and Who’s Who in American Women.
Heywood works in her studios in East Bridgewater, Massachusetts
and Waldoboro, Maine. She accepts commissions for custom
paintings and pet portraits, and offers workshops, lectures,
and demonstrations. Her works can be found in both national
and international corporate and private collections,
and are represented by the Wilson & Heywood Gallery in Plymouth, Massachusetts.
