A collection of paintings with “bling” are on view at the Heywood Gallery, 921 Main St., Waldoboro on Saturday, September 12th from 4 – 7 pm for ArtWalk Waldoboro.

“I have been painting with pastels on gold leaf for years,” says artist Anne Heywood. “I love using the gold leaf to act like a “setting” for each painting’s subject, much like gold acts as a setting for a precious stone in a ring. Each of these pastel sull’oro (on gold leaf) paintings are, therefore, very special pieces.” In addition to that work, Heywood is showing her “pearlescent” paintings, works which have a glitter-like quality. “When Great American Art Works, an American manufacturer of pastels, asked me to choose 78 colors from their 600+ color selection for their Anne Heywood Masterclass Pastel Set, I made sure to include some pearlescent colors,” says Heywood. “I love the subtle shine and shimmer they lend to my work.” Anne will be at the Heywood Gallery for ArtWalk Waldoboro on the 12th to greet visitors and further explain her working process.
